Telecinco closes a record-low summer and reshuffles its autumn

According to PR Noticias (2 September 2026), Telecinco ended August 2026 with a 7.8% audience share, dropping below the 8.8% of the FORTA regional broadcasters for the first time, and the same outlet notes that July had already set a monthly historic low at 7.1%. Against that backdrop, elDiario.es reports that only one of the four formats Telecinco launched for the summer will stay on air for the 2026-2027 season: "El verano se mueve", the afternoon show fronted by Ion Aramendi in the studio and Kike Quintana on remote link (produced by Unicorn Content), which ran from 29 June to 4 September 2026.

On the numbers, elDiario.es (in its piece "Telecinco, en una encrucijada con sus tardes") counts a 6.86% average share and 538,600 viewers for the show between 29 June and 31 July, edging up to 6.88% and 540,471 viewers from 3 August after a grid rejig. The same outlet pins the peak at 8% share and 638,000 viewers on 7 July, and the floor at 4.8% and 399,000 viewers on 20 July. Worth flagging: figures for the show's overall average vary depending on the source and the dates counted, so treat any single headline number with care. In a separate audience report ("Audiencias TV jueves 20 de agosto"), elDiario.es adds that the programme matched its 8% record on 20 August, the very day the slot that follows it, "De lunes a viernes" (hosted by Beatriz Archidona and Santi Acosta), climbed to 9.5%.

Put in context, elDiario.es stresses that the competition simply did better in the afternoon: Antena 3's "Sueños de libertad" at 13-14%, La 1's "Directo al grano" at 11-12%, Cuatro's "Todo es mentira" at 6-7% and laSexta's "Zapeando" at 4-6%. That gap helps explain why, PR Noticias reports, Telecinco pulled "El show de Paz" (Paz Padilla, launched in late June) after two months without ever reaching 7%, and dropped "Amor... ¡o lo que surja!" over weak ratings too.

Why it is trending today: the channel is publishing its autumn line-up. PR Noticias and elDiario.es both flag the return of "El diario de Jorge" on Monday 7 September, alongside new titles including "La isla de las tentaciones", "Supervivientes All-Star" and "Rueda la letra" with Carlos Sobera. One uncertainty no outlet resolves: El Economista (Informalia) quotes Ana Rosa Quintana admitting she does not know where Joaquín Prat will land this season ("Yo no sé lo que va a pasar"), a telling sign that the new grid is not fully settled.
