Today's essentials

Sewage returns to es Pouet beach, 2 weeks after last spill. A fresh faecal-water spill reached es Pouet beach, in Ibiza's bay of Portmany, on Tuesday 1 September 2026, just two weeks after a similar episode on 17 August, and it happened while children and adults were still swimming, according to Diario de Ibiza.

Weather today

An overcast, warm day across the islands. Open-Meteo forecasts a grey but warm day across the Balearics on Tuesday 1 September, with Palma running between 24 and 31 degrees and next to no chance of rain.

Palma starts at 24 degrees and climbs to 31, under an overcast sky with only a 3% chance of rain and a light breeze topping out near 14 km/h, according to Open-Meteo. It is a muggy, grey-warm kind of day rather than a beach-blue one, so a light layer for the cloud cover and plenty of water will serve you better than sunscreen alone.

The numbers barely move elsewhere: Alcúdia, in the north of Mallorca, runs from 26 to 30 degrees with a 5% chance of rain and wind up to 15 km/h, while Maó, on Menorca, sits between 25 and 29 degrees with the same grey ceiling and a gentle 13 km/h. Across the four islands the pattern is warm, cloudy and calm, so the morning is your most comfortable window if you are out and about.

Transport & traffic

No transport or traffic incidents reported at time of publication.

What's changing for you

  • A 30,000 euro fine under Ibiza's vehicle cap. A chauffeur-driven rental Range Rover has been fined 30,000 euros for breaching Ibiza's vehicle entry limit, now in its second summer, according to Periodico de Ibiza y Formentera. If you are planning to bring a car onto Ibiza this season, check whether it is even allowed before you book. The island's cap on incoming vehicles is in its second year in force, and it targets rental and non-resident cars during the peak months. In practice that means residents leaning on hire cars or private drivers should confirm the vehicle is registered under the quota, keep the paperwork to hand, and build public transport or a resident's plate into their summer plans rather than assume any car can simply roll off the ferry.
